DEVELOPMENT OF THE REHABILITATION ECOSYSTEM FROM THE REGIONAL TO THE COMMUNITY LEVEL

The initiative ‘DEVELOPMENT OF THE REHABILITATION ECOSYSTEM FROM THE REGIONAL TO THE COMMUNITY LEVEL’ is being implemented by the ‘Patients of Ukraine’ Charitable Foundation with financial and technical support from the World Bank and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The project focuses on the Ivano-Frankivsk region, where a study was conducted into the state of the rehabilitation system at three levels: regional (inpatient and highly specialised care), community (outpatient care using local resources) and cross-sectoral (social, educational and prosthetics and orthotics services requiring coordination with other sectors).

The Health Sciences Research Foundation contributed to the study ‘Rehabilitation in the Transition’, to the development of a comprehensive tool for assessing the rehabilitation system in the Ivano-Frankivsk region – specifically, in analysing existing approaches, identifying key criteria and indicators, and in processing and systematising the data obtained following the piloting of the assessment tool. Based on the results of this work, a comprehensive analytical report and a model of the rehabilitation ecosystem were produced.

Goal: To promote a rethinking of the existing rehabilitation system in Ukraine, taking into account a patient-centred rehabilitation ecosystem at regional level, by ensuring the availability of rehabilitation services at community level, integrated with related services (the provision of assistive technologies, social services, etc.).

Period: February – April 2025
