Cochrane Rehabilitation and the Scientific Medical Alliance for Rehabilitation (WMAR) have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding. WMAR aims to coordinate the efforts of individual professional societies towards common goals and to raise awareness about rehabilitation issues among all key stakeholders in the German healthcare system.

Key areas of action for WMAR include:

  • Science and education, particularly in the development of guidelines (coordination and use of synergies), quality assurance in teaching (including the integration of rehabilitation into the National Competence-Based Learning Objectives Catalogue for Medicine), and securing rehabilitation at universities.
  • Improving the quality of rehabilitation based on scientific evidence in collaboration with rehabilitation providers.
  • Public relations for rehabilitation by communicating the growing importance of rehabilitation and the duality of the rehabilitation concept (health strategy vs. interventions).
  • Health policy aimed at enhancing the integration of rehabilitation within the healthcare system.
